+Corp Of Discovery
Don't think you need to re-initialize but will need to reset time. I use a Merigold tho, not a SportTrak. We were on an extended (1 month) vacation a few months ago and went from Chicago-Florida-New York and back and all we ever had to do was reset the time as we changed time zones. Remember, wherever you go- there you are! Quote Link to comment

Bob Z
It depends if you fly or drive. If you drive and have the unit on you won't have to . if you fly and have the unit off for 500 miles you should initialize when you get there. Bob. Quote Link to comment

Craigmc
I live in California and travel regularly to Florida. I just take my GPS V out of the briefcase, tunr it on and put it on the dash of the rental car. By the time I am ready to drive away it is locked and showing my location on the map. Thanks IndyDave. I've taken my Garmin to Japan, Hawaii and "Lost Wages". At worst it asks me something like "have you traveled far (hundreds of miles) since the last useage?". I answer approprately and off and away I go. As for time, you'll need to set your time zone if you want it to match local time. But it is not required. You will not need to (and probably can't) set the time. It will figure it out automatically as GPS is also a very accurate time source. Quote Link to comment
