GPS V waypoint bearing question

Guest Olar

Recommended Posts

Just upgraded to a GPS 'V' from a Mag315 and am a little confused on the compass bearing for a goto waypoint. The mag315 displays a three digit bearing but the V only displays one of eight directions ie NE, SW, E, etc. as well as a Direction Finder Page simulated compass pointer graduated in 10º increments. Not very exact. Am I missing something here or is that it?

Thanks, Olar

You can make it display degrees by doing the following:

1. Press MENU twice to get to main menu

2. Key over to SETUP and press ENTER

3. Key over to UNITS tab

4. Key down to Heading Display, press ENTER

5. Key to DEGREES, and press ENTER.

Now to display the bearing, you must have a destination in navigation so the directional compass displays. page to that, and press MENU. Then

1. Key to CHANGE FIELDS, press ENTER

2. Key to where you want the bearing to display (highlighted). Press ENTER

3. Key to BEARING, press ENTER, then QUIT. You're there!

Hope this helps. E-mail me if you need more help.

Excellent! Thanks for your help macdaddymd. The GPS V is amazing and I haven't even begun to try all its features. Can't wait to get out and hunt a cache. Hopefully this weekend.

Cheers, Olar
