Lowrance GM100 Vs. Garmen etrex Summit?

Both are good units, but very different.

The GM100 is big and heavy and includes a basemap and the ability to download street-level maps. Tends to use batteries rather fast. The new iFinder will have similar features but is smaller and lighter and with more memory - remains to be seen when it's actually available.

The Summit is compact and light and includes an electronic compass and barometric altimeter to enhance the GPS altitude data, but no maps. New Vista version will add maps and other features.

Any particular reason you are focussing on these particular models?
