Guest pfred
Hello All! I'm looking for the cheapest external active antenna that I can find. Preferably with a BNC connector to hook up to my venerable old Garmin GPSII. Garmin makes one for about $99,ouch! The cheapest I've found so far is in the digikey catalog http://www.digikey.com for $37, but it doesn't have a BNC connector. Any ideas? Thanks. btw. The intended use is for my APRS set up, a really cool use of GPS and amateur radio. Learn more about it at http://www.aprs.net Quote Link to comment

The cheapest that I've seen a Garmin GPS II coax antenna is for 70 bucks at AdvancedGPS.com (check this link). I hope this helps some. Also, Garmin makes a a MCX to Coax converter for their antennas if the antenna that you found uses that kind of a port, but most likely it doesn't since the MCX port is a Garmin-invention and thus probably not compatable with most off-the-street hardware. I may be wrong about this though. I hope this helps some. ------------------ -Iron Chef _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ agefive.com/geocache/ ~ Fe-26 Lets Drive Fast and Eat Cheese! Quote Link to comment
Guest peter
Wolfe (at http://www.gpscables.com/catalog.html ) offers a variety of GPS antennas, including some with BNC connectors for $45. I have not bought any antennas there, but did buy a combo power/PC cable and was pleased with the service and product quality. Quote Link to comment
