+st_richardson Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 If so and you have the latest software version 3.20, have you had any problems loading WAAS information from satellite #35? I want to rule out software before I pack up mine and ship it to Garmin with the $125 repair check. Thanks! Quote
+Faderaven Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 and I haven't noticed. I just went outside and 35 was the FIRST one to get a WAAS lock. Let my heart be still a moment and this mystery explore Quote
+apersson850 Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 I turned mine on yesterday. Once it had locked on, I tried EGNOS. It took four seconds, then it was receiving #33. Now this wasn't WAAS, but the systems are the same in principle, so it can work. Anders Quote
+st_richardson Posted March 24, 2003 Author Posted March 24, 2003 Well now I need to decide if I leave on my car dash, put it on ebay, or shell out the $125. Quote
+RangerRick Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 I live in Connecticut and I own a Garmin V that can use WAAS but I find it totally useless. It slows down the unit I don't find it to be any more accurate than using the V without WAAS enabled. Maybe this is just because of my location. My .02 Quote

Try a few things before you send it back. I'm not 100% sure, but I think in most later-model receivers, WAAS is more of a software thing than a hardware thing. You may have already done so, but FWIW... 1) Do a master reset - back up your waypoints beforehand 2) Reload the latest firmware 3) Make sure WAAS is ON 4) Make sure the receiver is in "normal" mode, not "battery saver" 5) Allow time for the almanac to be loaded, and for WAAS corrections to be received - about 1/2 hour with a clear view of the SE horizon. As TeamCNJC said, go make sure WAAS is turned on, because it's disabled by default. Quote
