Carolina Possum
What GPS is recommended for an intermediate cache hunter? My husband has a Garmin III+ and I used to have an E-Trex (the yellow one) before I lost it. I've borrowed an E-Map and liked it. We do a lot of mountain hiking. Any suggestions for what I should get next? Quote Link to comment
+culpc
I also had the Garmin eTrex, which I liked pretty well (except for no base map). I upgraded to the eMap and have no plans to upgrade-at least for now. The eMap is pretty good under the trees (when I can find one in the desert to try it under), has the base maps, and with a memory upgrade will accept MapSource products. It is also relatively "battery thrifty" and is a handy size. Children today are tyrants. dave and jaime
you ask a tough question. i have a mag 315 and love it. however alot of people don't like the menu system. i guess you should borrow a couple of different types and try them, if possible. good luck! Quote Link to comment
+apersson850
I would say almost all of them, that are designed to be carried (not bolted to a ship or car). Assuming it's new enough to be a 12-channel, that is. Anders Quote Link to comment
hellmaster
I have the Magellan SporTrack Pro (same as the map, but more memory) and I think it is great. It has a great antenna and does well under tree cover. If I am near a window I can get a 3d fix in the 2nd floor of my house. Battery life is not too bad either. MapSend software is pretty good. +sledgehampster
Some of the Sam's Clubs still have the Magellan MAP 330x package. Has GPS with windshield mount, PC data/power cable, MapSend Streets cd rom, wrist strap. $179.95 last time I checked. Quote Link to comment
Team Dalmation
I love my SporTrack Map. Although loading the caches without taking along the clues can prove elusive. I really like the menus and controls on Magellan units as opposed to the Garm in. Hope it helps [8D] Jesse and Ajax Quote Link to comment
