squirrel-family
My 4 month old Legend shows from time to time bold black stripes on the display during use of the unit, while the picture shown before disappears. After switching off and on the unit works regular again. I wonder about the reason and if this is a typical problem of the Legend. Any suggestions? Thanks and bye Marco Quote Link to comment
+Rubberhead
I had the same problem. It's a known design problem. Call Garmin's customer service tomorrow and get an RMA number. Then send the unit back to Garmin. They'll have it fixed and returned in a couple of days. The new display on mine has a better backlight. It is a typical problem with Etrex units ... including the Vista. Definitely use the warrantly to repair ... but after the warranty. You can send it for them to fix (send you a refurbished unit) for around $150 US. Or if you're gutsy ... and cheap like me you can follow the instructions in this link It's a design defect that guarantees a high percentage of units coming down the line will fail as you described ... eventually. But it's strickly mechanical in nature. Anyway food for thought ... some where in the future. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Co-founder of the "NC/VA GEO-HOG ASSOCIATION" ... when you absolutely have to find it first!
