eTrex Inaccuracies

Has anyone had many problems with the basic eTrex being too inaccurate for them? I can't tell if it's because i'm new to GPS or if the unit just isn't that powerful. I find i (1) walk in circles alot (heh you should see my tracks plotted on a map), (2) am 30 to 40 feet off when standing on the cache site (even under little tree cover) and (3) the arrow points in the wrong way very often. Any thoughts or tips would be helpful. They don't make re-radiating atenna's with batteries do they?

Josh, my e-Trex seems to have very good accuracy, but I've heard that when you get close, ignore the arrow, and just look at the coords. Walk N-S until lat matches, then E-W, til long. matches. (or some variation of above, depending on terrain. Hope that helps in some way.

Walking in circles may be changing the sats in view and affecting other things. Try where ever (especially with handhelds) to face the equator as there are no sats over either of the poles (from 45 degrees either side of the poles in an arc up to about 45 degrees elev) and that way less chance of you body interfering with things.

Cheers, Kerry.
