Guest Moun10Bike
You are safe -- all waypoints, tracks, routes, and settings on the unit will remain when you swap batteries. Quote Link to comment
Guest topografix
You CAN lose the data in your GPS if you leave the batteries out for a very long time, or if you update the firmware on your GPS. Many people invest in a GPS data cable and some waypoint management software to backup their GPS data. Of course, the software also allows you to easily edit and create new waypoints, routes, and tracks, so it's a good investment anyway. - Dan Foster TopoGrafix (http://www.topografix.com) Software and Waypoints for your Garmin, Magellan and Lowrance GPS Quote Link to comment
Guest IronHelix
all the newer Garmin units (IIRC ALL eTrexes) use flash memory, which means your data is safe for any period of time. As for a firmware fsckup, I would recommend you back up just in case. Quote Link to comment
