external antennae

I have read several posts about external antennae used on different GARMIN units, but when I look at all the ones sold by GARMIN they all seem to be designed for a fixed mount. Where can I find one that maybe snaps into my MCX connector and doesnt have several feet of annoying cable attached to it... If one even exists!

If it is an MCX connector then it is probably one of the 76 series. Garmin does sell an antenna that isn't fixed mount (its held magnetically and can be detached from say a car roof), you just need to make sure that you are getting the MCX version of the ext antenna or an coax (is this the other type?) to MCX convertor that garmin sells. Of course they don't sell one yet without the extra 5 metres of cable, but just take some twistie ties with you for your adventures and you should be fine.
