Guest jbwcpa
I know that the compass on my eMap is fairly accurate with the internal antenna. What happens to the compass rose if I use an external antenna? Does the orientation of the antenna effect the compass? I will still carry a baseplate compass. Quote Link to comment
Guest bob_renner
The "compass" in the eMap is not a true compass. It will NOT tell you which way you are pointed. It will only tell you which way you are MOVING, and only if you are moving more than 1 or 2 mph. The orientation of an external antenna will not change the accuracy of the compass rose on the eMap. It will improve the quality or strength of the received satellite signals and may make the "compass" more reliable. But if you stop moving, the compass could point anywhere.
