Guest Khao Mun Gai
I can't for the life of me tell what the difference is between Garmin's "Metroguide" and Garmin's "Roads and Recreation" data other than the price. I am interested in street level mapping detail. Streams, ponds, etc. would be nice. Do both have this? What does one offer that the other doesn't? Somebody please advise, thanks! Guest bwolv
The R&R offers street level mapping. But the metro guide offer address searching and street by street turn directions. Very useful if you run a delivery business. There is no way to "search" for a street with R&R other than to go to the map page and start looking for it. Quote Link to comment
Guest outdrcpl
keep in mind that I'm totally new to all this. I just purchased metroguide and the only thing mine lets you search for on the pc is cities. on my legend it lets me search for an address but I can't find the street by street turn directions that Bwolv talks about. If I do a search for an address and select "goto" then it shows the direction I need to go to get there, but not a turn by turn. I believe this is because Legends do not support address to address mapping. Garmin said that the turn by turn and find address features will be part of the new metroguide coming out next month, but as of now is only part of city navigator cd. correct me if I'm wrong and if I am, let me know how to do the turn by turn thing on my PC with metroguide. thanks [This message has been edited by outdrcpl (edited 26 July 2001).] Quote Link to comment
Guest bwolv
This feature is only avalible with certain Garmin models. The Emap, the GPSmap76, GPSmap176, the street pilot, and some others. I don't believe it's avalible with any in the Etrex line. (sorry bout that!) Quote Link to comment
Guest bwolv
Are using this software on a laptop as you travel? That may be a whole different ballgame. Make sure you have the latest version of the software on your computer. Go to Garmin to get that: http://www.garmin.com/support/download.html The latest mapsource version is 4.03 It's easy (and free) to update, dounload it, and run it. Quote Link to comment
