"BP" waypoints on backtrack trail

Still new at this, but I've noticed that when I initiate the backtrack mode on my Meriplat (version 4.02) I see what appear to be random waypoints. They are points given a number starting with BP and are on the backtrack trail.

Were these randomingly generating by the GPSr? Is this a new feature of 4.02?

Well I was going to tell you to RTFM, but I just looked (at page 51) and see that the manual sucks.

So then I checked the manual for my Garmin GPS V, and it sucks, too icon_confused.gif

So I'll tell you what I remember reading somewhere icon_rolleyes.gif The GPSr backtracks by reducing the track to some number of waypoints (usually 10). It then generates a route back through these waypoints, and starts navigating that route.

Sorry thats not more clear. Perhaps someone else can point to a better reference.
