Satellites being down?

Hi everybody. I just have a quick question. I just ordered a GPS unit and I was wondering if anybody has been having problems with satellites being unavailable because of Sept 11 or are things working fine as always. Basically, I was wondering what kind of accuracy to expect. Was told by someone to only expect being correct within 300 meters. Thanks for the help

GPS signals weren't interrupted during 9/11, and it's not likely to happen in the future. GPS navigation has become too ingrained in our technology to be able to just turn if off. It would be a mess. If anything is ever done, it will localized jamming of the signal.

Basically, the government noticed how amazingly huge the number of people who were using GPS for fun or safety was, and it occurred to them that for them to turn it off would be rather like a terrorist attack on ourselves. icon_smile.gif

The accuracy of the system is published as being 13m @ 95%. Since 13m is within 300m, then in that regard, they were correct.

Hello Steel, I would be disappointed with my Garmin V if I was not within 20 feet of the cache when my gps indicates that I am near it. A few times, I was brought witin a few inches of the cache.
