gd68865
My wife and I are getting more interested in this Geocaching sport. My wife recently used a portion of her Air Miles and got us a Cobra GPS 500 unit (I was wanting a Magellan - oh well). Anway, I'm rather confused about the software to download "waypoints" from the Geocaching website into our GPS 500. It seems that the are all meant for either the Garman or the Magellan. Is there not any software we can use to download waypoints into our Cobra GPS 500? Quote Link to comment

+quakemap
We had a couple of threads already on Cobra (see http://ubbx.Groundspeak.com/6/ubb.x?a=tpc&s=5726007311&f=7116058331&m=29760966) - but no good info on the communication protocol yet. Have you bought a cable to connect it to PC? Original Cobra software? Have you tried something like EasyGPS in Garmin mode (Cobra's User Interface seems to be Garmin clone, may be they also share communication protocol?). http://www.quakemap.com - redefining Easy... +Johnnie Stalkers
Here is the response that I got from Cobra on the cable for the 500. *** We have almost finished the roll out of the GPS 500 to the retail market. As this stage is completed we will begin to offer the interface cable and software. The target date is mid November. *** Time will tell. Understand what? My purpose? You know that.
