+oldfred
After reading everything posted on GPS units I had to decide between the GPS V and the Pilot. Boy am I happy with the Pilot. I went from Atlanta to Biloxi (had to donate to the casinos so they can stay open !) and the Pilot is INCREDABLE on a trip. Got back home and finally started casching and it works really well as a handheld unit. Anyone thinking about one won't go wrong if the price doesn't stop you. OLDFRED :rolleyes Quote Link to comment
STREETSEAL & G.I. Jane
I took the plunge with a gpsmap 176c, I would of loved to get the streetpilot, but it was out of my budget, I've also tried to brag about my 176c, I got alot of comments that I'll need to bring a wheelbarrow and a backpack full of "AA" batteries etc. But nothing beats the color screen, data cards, and the waypoint memory, I lack autorouting, but I can do it on my pc, and download to my unit.It works. We have many features others don't!! I have every accessory, car/marine stuff, I use it both ways. Other units can't switch up!! Ha Ha. I also use mine for caching, It's almost like cheating, but it still only gets me within 30 feet or so. Have fun with your new toy!!!! Quote Link to comment

+ZachNLiam
It WILL work, but it is kind of big and the battery life isn't very good. I have a SPIII that I totally LOVE, but when I get out of the car I switch to my GPSMAP76. By the way, no one really doesn't like your 176c! They just took your comments about the 5 the wrong way! The reason I wouldn't want to take my SPIII out caching is that I'd be afraid of scratching that great screen! You can't easily drop it in your pocket when the terrain gets a little rough, etc. Just my $0.02. Quote Link to comment

+MysteryLady
Hi, I am thinking of purchasing the StreetPilot III for my husband for Christmas. The ones I've seen are about $1,000. Any suggestions on where to buy? Quote Link to comment

+Stunod
They seem to have the best price on the SPIII...even better than "used" ones on Amazon.com "Alright Brain, you don't like me, and I don't like you. But lets just do this, and I can get back to killing you with beer." Quote Link to comment
+MysteryLady
Thanks Stunod and Trinigen - I checked the web site and it is definitely the lowest price I've seen. I'm going to order it tonight. Thanks again. Quote Link to comment
