Tahoe Skier5000
How many of you actually use it for geocaching? If you don't, what do you use instead? ----------------------------------------------------------- N38 49.027 W120 01.064 Garmin V Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
I like to use a Platinum for caching, but find it easier to just have a 2nd GPS V for caching. -------------------------------------------------- My Old posts as Geoffrey My Current Post as GOT GPS? +Moore9KSUcats
We got our new Garmin V the first of July. We have used it for geocaching, and also found it very useful on our vacation to Washington, DC a few weeks ago. It sure was great having the DC detailed map downloaded. If we got lost, (a frequent occurance), it quickly got us back on track. We didn't have the capability to download detailed maps on the road, so we just used the base maps for the drive from Texas to DC, and for navigating other areas on the trip. With the weather so hot here in Texas lately (over 100 frequently), we haven't used it much for geocaching here, but used it to find almost 40 caches on our trip (mostly virtuals... we took it easy, plus most of the ones in the DC area are virtuals). We are sending our old Garmin 12 to college with our daughters (they will have to take turns, they go to different universities) so they can go geocaching in their areas, now. Quote Link to comment
+wickedsprint
My 1st GPS was the V, I use it for long distance driving to giveme pretty good time estimates and kind of as a count down for miles, as always allowing it to set the route is nice. I have a setup in my truck with a amplified antanae and power source to run the backlight indefinitely at night without sucking up the batteries. I use my Vista to Geocache, and got my III pilot for the plane. Quote Link to comment
+JDan150
My wife and I both have GPS V. we use them all the time from going to and home from work, (its just fun to look at) maping trails to seeing how far and what the average traning speed of the horse was and of corse geocaching. +Gizzys Dad
I use it all the time. Love the autorouting to get me near the cache and off road to find it. Then I use the TRACKING to map where I went using EXPERTGPS Quote Link to comment
+cat-n-the-hat
I use mine for caching when the kids and I can escape. Not as often as I would like. This unit is great. Quote Link to comment
