Hi,

TopoGrafix has released a major upgrade for our PanTerra GPS software. If you are an existing PanTerra user, you can download the upgrade at http://www.topografix.com/products/panterra/panterra_latest.htm. If you haven't used PanTerra before, here's a brief description:

PanTerra 3.5 is the perfect accessory for your Garmin, Magellan, or Lowrance GPS. You can quickly and easily view, edit, and create new waypoints, routes, and tracks, or import them from popular mapping programs. PanTerra comes with a database of over 1.6 million US waypoints, and includes

powerful search and sorting commands to quickly find the data you need. If you drive, PanTerra can import your driving directions from mapblast.com, and guide you right to your destination.

Try PanTerra today. To download your copy, visit http://www.topografix.com

Is anyone using a waypoint database like PanTerra or Magellan's software? Any plus and minus points you would care to share would be appreciated. Thanks.

I tried the PanTerra software but found the waypoints were off by quite a bit. Even "added" waypoints did not show up correctly when comparing them to the "online feature" that the program offers.

The lack of help files is also a problem with this software.

It's price is good though - but it needs work.

Be sure you're setting the datum correctly - PanTerra and your GPS use WGS84 by default. Many of the online services use NAD27, so the numbers won't match. PanTerra converts between the two when viewing data online.
