Guest Havasu Desert Rat
Well, I finally decided to break down and buy the data cable and see what all this GPS to PC data-flow is all about. So I get the cable home, open it up, and find that there is only a connector on one end, the one to the GPS. All I have are 3 wires coming out the other end. Now what? Serial, USB? Where do I get the connectors, Radio Shack? And how do I know which wires go where? I am bummed. I thought I would get a complete cable ready to use. Help? ------------------ Larry Sallee aka The Havasu Desert Rat Quote Link to comment
Guest bob_renner
If you haven't already been to Joe Mehaffey's web site you need to check it out. It has a wealth of information on GPS and links to all sorts of other GPS related sites. He has a page that shows the wiring for the Garmin round connector (GPS12 and many others). http://joe.mehaffey.com/pinout.html You should be able to get the connector at Radio Shack. You need a female DB-9 connector for connection to the serial port on your PC. Bob Renner Quote Link to comment
Guest k2dave
you should have got the cable w/ the serial end to it. You got one that you have to put your own connector on it. Quote Link to comment
