Northern-Lights
Hoping someone knows if the Garmin 72 is any good. It's a new unit, no map feature, but it is supposed to be water proof and supposedly floats. But, how good does it recieve in dense tree cover/brush? Is the antenna any good? Any comments would be helpful. Quote Link to comment
+slinger91
I can't say how well the antenna works, but you should go with the GPS76. You get a few more features plus a pc interface cable. So when Garmin puts out software updates, you can upload them. The GPS72 will probably cost you the same if buy the cable after market. +Wallabies
G'day, I just purchased the GPS 72 and it packed up in less than an hour. It would turn it self off while you are trying to use it especially when you tried to use the light. Took it back the shop and it the next one did it straight out of the box as well. Only seemed to do it with batteries. Seemed to work OK with and external power source. So so far not real happy with it. Quote Link to comment
Brasileiro
I've used the 72 and I've very impressed with it. I haven't had any reception problems or problems with it shutting down. Other Garmins I've used have shut down when the backlight is on with low batteries. Quote Link to comment
