Guest Sensamea
I see garmin added a geocache waypoint icon to some of their GPS units except my GPS3+. Does anyone know if I can somehow add this icon on my own? Quote Link to comment
Guest Iron Chef
You can do it, but I believe that it involved hacking the firmware of the unit. Unfortunantly this invalidates any warrenty you have. Then the question is do you really need a geocaching waypoint icon? Before the icons came out I used the Tall and Short Tower icons to show geocaches that were found and ones that wern't found and even then it was a pain to change the icons. Even with my new GPS V I find that I don't use the geocache icon since it requires a lot of work to go through and change them all in MapSource. Back to the hacking thing, I'm not sure of the link, but someone will probably post it. It's something like www.hackgarmin.cx (this isn't the right domain) or something-a-rather. ------------------ -Iron Chef _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ agefive.com/geocache/ ~ Fe-26 Lets Drive Fast and Eat Cheese! Guest k2dave
I believe you can export your waypoints to a text doc then do a find and replace to change all your towers to geocaches then import them back in. Quote Link to comment
Guest Sensamea
Thanks for the info. I'll probably just end up using an icon like you did with the towers. Quote Link to comment
Guest k2dave
Just another note - if you use topo usa software it uses towers too. The one I use is restricted field and private field Quote Link to comment
