Hi fr,

 

I was able to update the firmware on my friends etrex venture not too long ago. I used a keyspan adapter because my computer at work only has USB connections. The first thing to do is check to make sure no other programts are using that com port. For instance: if you have a PDA (like a palm pilot) set up on the computer you will have to close the HotSync manager. This will free up the com port. In addition, I think the baud rat has to be like 5600, did you go that low?
