+glenn95630
I have a yellow etrex. When I turn it on, the screen goes black. The strange thing is, if I look at the screen at a flat angle, I can tell that the proper screen is up (looking for satelittes, etc.) but I can't read anything. I've been using my new eMap so I can't say that this black screen thing is occuring because of a drop or something. It is possible that the etrex got a lot of sun. Thanks, Glenn Quote Link to comment
+M+L
I had that happen to a display (not a GPS screen though) one time after I had left it in direct sunlight for about an hour. It returned to normal after it had cooled back down and works fine now. Quote Link to comment
+glenn95630
It is cool now. It has been sitting on my desk for a couple days. Still it has a black screen. Quote Link to comment

+park2
Did you try adjusting the contrast? I think you use the zoom in/out buttons at the sat screen. Quote Link to comment

Park2 - you da man! (gender assumed) I just adjusted the contrast and it is now fixed! I feel kind of silly. When I was out geocaching, I let my 4.5 year old daughter use my 'yellow one' while I was searching with my eMap. She must have 'adjusted' the contrast. Thanks again! Glenn Quote Link to comment
Eric O'Connor
Does this mean that the old saying.... "once you go black you can never go back" isn't true? Quote Link to comment
