As long as it's properly calibrated to the current barometric pressure, yes. Right now, my vista is on ... it reads the correct elevation for my house and it matches the current Weather Channel pressure of 30.06 for the airport 3 miles from my house. (Proof positive that the "autocalibrate" feature does its job.)

 

It's fun to compare the "gps" and barometric elevations while hiking ... I usually find them to be within 50 feet; just like most cache coordinates! icon_wink.gif
