spark363
Ok, here's another newbie question. How much data do you need on your SD card? What would a 32mb card generally hold? If I were to use a 32, would that be enough for my area, or for what size area? When you load from the mapsend software, can you specify the amount of info? In other words, what size do I really need? Whew............. Quote Link to comment
+DeerChaser & Company
I'm using Streets and Destinations and I can get the whole state of Florida with POI under 27mb. Then I have AL and GA, 32mb ____________________________________________________________ Quote Link to comment
+geospotter
I can get most of New England in under 20 MB. So I have both the topo and streets versions on my card. I suggest that you go with a 64MB card since the price is almost the same as a 32MB. geospotter Quote Link to comment
+JetSkier
I also have all of Florida (Streets & Dest) with POIs and All of Maryland & DC with POIs. It totals around 30mb. I have a 64mb card so now I carry not only FL, MD, DC on Streets & Dest, but FL, MD, DC on Topo as well! JetSkier Quote Link to comment
CaptHawke
With the Topo data for New England, NYC, Florida and SE Utah, plus all the track info from 4 days of canoeing in the Everglades, I still have 12mb left on a 64mb SD card. Can one ever have enough memory? Look for the best deal and buy what you can afford. Quote Link to comment
+Ozarktroutbum
I can carry all of arkansas and missouri on a 64 meg card with space leftover for storing waypoints and tracks. When GPSr's are outlawed, only Outlaws will have GPSr's. Quote Link to comment
spark363
Thanks all. Ibought a reader and it came with a 32mb card. It look's like I have to get more. Will it ever end? lol Quote Link to comment
+GOT GPS?
The 128 Megabyte card is what I have on my Meridian Platinum, and that is plenty for several 16 meg maps, and tons of Waypoint files, and tracklog files. It is a great file cabinet for the data. 32 megs is enough for your area. 64 megs is barely enough for SE-Michigan to Florida trips. Always different...Hit refresh Quote Link to comment
