Neo_Geo Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 Consider the Garmin eMap. I bought a Legend and truly love it a lot! Still, when loading MetroGuide 5 data into it, I think about putting a house into a car! Only so much of it will go... (and very little at that). Then I learned about the eMap and its possible 128MB mapping memory!!! I bought one and a 128MB data cartridge. I use the Legend for walking / caching locally, and the eMap for long trips in the car! Good deals to be had at eBay. Keep in mind that the "Deluxe Version" should come with the unit, PC Cable, 8MB cartridge and a MetroGuide 4.x CD. I got a deal with the unit, 32MB and 8 MB cartridge, USB Card Programmer, and Metroguide 4.something all for about $250! Hard to find a deal like that, but it happens! +-=(GEO)=- Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 I'd suggest a Magellan Meridian GPS: here's one for $146.67 http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/offering/list/-/B00005OLY7/used/ref%3Dbuy%5Fpb%5Fu%5F/103-7413751-3872663 You get the benefit of the expandability via SD cards and mapping of course. +norwich Posted August 17, 2003 Posted August 17, 2003 I've had my etrex Legend for about a year and it has not failed me once. Geocaching under heavy tree canopy on sunny days without any signal loss. I've never filled the 8MB of free RAM and I've loaded some pretty long trips into it. For your price range, I believe the Legend will exceed your demands and leave you satisfied you picked the right product. VISIT MINNESOTA Jim Quote
