Pup Patrol Posted Sunday at 03:22 PM Posted Sunday at 03:22 PM Google translation: Ideas for new attributes Will it be possible as a new attribute to define whether the geocaches route is in shade or semi-shade or in full sun or in forest or rural? This will be a little extra to be able to do our challenges. Pup Patrol Quote
+cerberus1 Posted Sunday at 04:09 PM Posted Sunday at 04:09 PM Guess I don't see how it would make a difference. One cache we had got hit by fire. Its area changed every year, attributes would change too. It was a quiet, easy stroll from parking along a creek, in a unique area that you could hear/see in spots water rushing under your feet. Had parking coordinates and the trail was wide n visible from the car. Some mentioned how "steep that cliff was", one mentioned "no trail to follow", and some admitted they came in from a different direction. - Bushwacked in by their car GPS... Most our caches changed with the seasons. Leaves make shade then doesn't in Fall. At least that's how our part of the world works... 1 Quote

Shade, semi-shade, full sun can change throughout the day, and with the weather, or season. An attribute for that would be, in my mind, pretty meaningless. And forested or rural, you can pretty much tell by the satellite images...and other attributes would give hints as well - thorny plants, ticks and other critters, terrain rating, etc. 2 Quote
+hzoi Posted Monday at 02:47 PM Posted Monday at 02:47 PM If memory serves, we haven't seen new attributes since 2010, when the Lost and Found attribute was added to those 10 Years! events that had a Groundspeak Lackey in attendance.* I wouldn't hold my breath for a new one, especially one that depended on the daily changes in the position of the sun, and whether the trees in the area have leaves that time of year or not. *and a random traditional cache in Estonia, but that glitch was fixed when it hit the forums. 1 Quote
