I'm glad I was able to get back on the legacy pricing auto-renewal plan!

So I've been a premium member since around 2011, when I first signed up for premium membership incorrectly thinking I needed that to hide a cache (whoops).  I've been auto-renewing yearly since then until 2023 when I had a bit of a hiccup.

At that point the newer premium pricing had happened but those of us with legacy pricing could keep it as long as we kept on renewing.

I was a GIFF finalist four times, and the first three times as part of my prize package I earned a free year of premium membership which was automatically added to my account.  Such a great part of the prize!  (along with the GIFF geocoin).

But in 2023 I received a gift card for 1 year of premium membership instead, but in order to use it, I had to break my auto-renewal and apply it manually.  I was told that as long as I manually kept auto-renewing I'd keep the legacy pricing, but of course I didn't want to mess it up accidentally.  That was the beauty of auto-renewal.

This week when I went to manually renew, I found that I had the option to get back into the auto-renewal plan at the legacy pricing!  Woohoo!

I don't know if I misunderstood in the past that I could no longer get back into this plan, or if it's a positive change that happened since 2023, but I was very happy to see that I could get back into legacy pricing auto-renewal.

Your membership would need to be lapsed for at least 30 days for you to lose the legacy pricing.

Legacy Premium membership price:

Quote

As long as you purchase a new Premium membership within 30 days of the expiration of your previous membership, you will receive legacy pricing. If there’s a long gap (30 days or more) between the expiration date and when you renew your membership, the legacy price will not be available.

If you've renewed within that time span each year, regardless of the method or auto status, then you should have been good to go. I don't think that has changed recently.
