Why are the Earthcaches size "Other"?

My EarthCaches are listed as "other" or "not chosen".

Size refers to the container size and as we all know so well, EarthCaches do not have containers.  I suppose it would be nice if we had a "N/A" (not applicable) option for size. Virtual seems to me more of a description of a style than a size, although EarthCaches are a type of virtual cache.

Those are my thoughts.

The virtual size was officially retired at some point, and Virtual Rewards I assume only have it because Groundspeak creates the listings and then transfers them to awardees.

I would agree that all ECs should be virtual size, but I don't know what kind of programming impact it would have to change this.

edit to add, all of my ECs are "other," going back to my first ones in 2010.

It seems like the "size" possibilities for EarthCaches have changed over time. Looking at my finds, I see the following:

Large: 2.1% (hidden between 2007 and 2013)

Not chosen: 28.5% (hidden between 2005 and 2014)

Other: 69.4% (hidden between 2005 and 2024)

I agree that Virtual would make the most sense, and it wasn't until now that I realized they weren't already. I could have sworn that was how they were already forced to be rated. The other cache types that get the Virtual size are Virtuals, Webcams, and Locationless, so ECs seem to fit alongside those.

The cache submission system already forces the size for new EarthCaches to Other, so it should be trivial to change that to use Virtual instead.
