I have had the topo software for about a week now. Whether or not it is any good depends on what you are looking for I suppose. The software itself is fairly full featured and easy to use. It does however suffer from the fact that it, like Garmin's software (except the new MetroguideII) is based upon the US tiger maps which were compiled from data submitted by local counties. Some counties sumitted crap for data. As an example, in my hometown, the coordinates are displayed as much as 300 feet off on the maps. In the neighboring town, they are dead on.

So, if having coordinates displayed with precision accuracy are your priority then as of this date your only real choice is the Garmin MetroguideII software based upon the good USGS maps.

Having said that, the most up to date street information you are going to find, is on the Magellan Topo package, but the MetroguideII is close.

Of the Magellan software, the Topo package is their best to date. BTW, don't pay more than $49.00 for it. Some places are still charging $89.00. http://www.freshtracksmaps.com/magellan-meridian.htm has it for $49.00
