nykkole Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Android users on 9.79.0+ can turn on this Experimental feature to have the ability to delete your own log. Note: If a log is deleted, the Treasure collected from that log is removed. HQ will not actively participate in this thread, but will review it for feedback to assess if a feature should be further developed. Any posts in this thread should relate to features in this release. Comments unrelated to the release may be removed. Please direct unrelated comments to other appropriate threads. Thanks! 1
+Max and 99 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 How often does one need to delete their own log on the app? Just curious. 1

Yes, I've had that happen with an app-only cacher who posted a found log on one of my multis when he meant to log the nearby traditional. Since he never visited the website, he couldn't delete his log and I had to do it for him. 1

Every once in a while I accidentally log a find on a DNF. Muscle memory. Also, sometimes I make my draft note (E.g. "short bushwack ammo can log wet" just so I can remember which cache was which) and accidentally post it as a find. Which is not exactly the most flattering log that I'd like to delete before I get home... Also, the website is absolutely horribly designed for mobile users. So it is a lot easier to delete off of the app IMO 1

+Hynz Posted June 25 Posted June 25 I'm rarely using the app so I can not judge about the readiness of that long needed feature. But beside the possibility to delete a log there also needs to be a possibility to change the date. At the time of logging as well as afterwards. 1 1
+Max and 99 Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I don't see a big need for this feature, but if it is implemented, I hope it includes a warning that deleting your log may affect your treasures collection. 1

So it is a lot easier to delete off of the app IMO I do that a lot, and posted a log that I intended to use only as a Draft just a couple of days ago. So the CO would have gotten the email of my log with the single word "Combo", as my Find log text. I planned to type something about the find, plus the story of working the combination lock... But once I do that kind of thing, I switch to the browser to perform the serious log management. The web site is today a lot better than it once was, when accessed on a phone. And I often just come home and do all the edits, deletions, cut & paste, photos, everything. If The App develops a Delete Log feature, I'll very likely end up using it by mistake as I already do when typing logs in The App.

I'm sometimes confronted with app-logger of my Virtual who were posting a wrong picture and they simply do not understand that they can edit/delete their log and/or picture on the website and relog on the website with correct photos and correct dates And on top of it is is not even their fault that their log has a wrong date but Groundspeaks. +jennergruhle Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Yes, that missing log date (which should be preset to the current day but be changeable) is a real pain if the find logs are written some days after the physical visit. Owners and later searchers may get false information about the cache like "this was logged as found today, it must be here!". And the delayed logs may cause problems with challenge caches or treasures if their dates are completely wrong.
+jennergruhle Posted June 27 Posted June 27 And yes, being able to delete wrong logs is definitely a feature that I would welcome. I also had these mistakes like "wanting to log two finds and a DNF, but instead logging three finds" many times.
