pepperpot
Can anyone tell me what I can use the data link cable that came with my etrex legend for. i am not a techie, and the booklet that came with it was pretty scant. I have seen on screen maps with routes on them, is that possible ?? Pepperpot is actually my dog, she's a miniature schnauzer that comes on all our cache hunts. Quote Link to comment
+zoltig
You can transfer easyGPS from your pc to your legend. Also, if you have any garmin mapping software and/or National Geographic topo, this too can be used to transfer info back and forth from pc to legend. I know the National Geographic Topo works, I have that one. I am sure there are others that will work as well. Buy Fugi Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
You can use the cable with various software to backup your data from your GPSr, transfer data from your PC to your GPSr (it's easier to type things in on a key board than to enter data one character at a time on your GPSr) or hook up to a laptop or PDA for realtime navigation. There is some good software discussed in this threadand in this thread. PDOP's GPS Pages [This message was edited by PDOP's on May 21, 2003 at 01:09 PM.] Quote Link to comment
+quakemap
Take a look at http://www.quakemap.com I think it is the easiest one to use when it comes to seeing the tracks and caches. QuakeMap is all you need for geocaching with your Garmin eTrex or Magellan SporTrak. Print aerial and topo maps, zoom in, load geocaches to GPS... It makes good sense of your GPS tracks and prints very useful aerial/topo maps (easy to navigate in the field). Of course, allows off-line aerial/topo, loads .loc files and stores direct links to geocache pages (just click on geocache name on the map). Displays "found" information if you use Pocket Queries (need to be Premium member for these). Happy trails! http://www.quakemap.com - redefining Easy... Quote Link to comment
