eTrex versus eTrex Summit

The main difference is that a traditional GPS receiver (Like the eTrex) is not able to give you a heading if you're not moving. When you move, it can do this because it takes two points to draw an invisible line who give him the heading ....and you are supposed to hand your GPS in the direction of your moving). The etrex works like a traditional compass, so you've got a precise heading even when you walk slowly. The altitude is a weak point of the GPS system because the vertical accuracy is not the same that the horizontal one. But the eTrex Summit gives you the barometric altitude. The accuracy is much better (Garmin said : +-10 feet accuracy / resolution :1 foot). I hope this will be a good answer to your question and that my english is not too much bad.

Good Day !
