Walking along, eTrex (original yellow unit) said 28 feet, arriving destination. Kept walking. Display didn't change or update. None of the function keys worked. Could not shut unit off. Pulled batteries to shut unit off. replaced batteries, unit wouldn't turn on. Put new batteries in, unit wouldn't turn on. Left unit w/o batteries overnight. Replaced with known good batteries this AM, still won't turn on. Anyone experienced this. Solutions? Please Email me at: bobhogan@mediaone.net. While it could be something as simple as a loose connection inside, the symptoms point to chip damage. My best suggestion is that you replace it or return it for service. Sorry, and good luck.
