mac266 Posted May 19 Posted May 19 We went to a local outdoor area where horseback riding is allowed. We rode our horses on the trails while searching for caches, and dismounted to find the actual cache and sign the log. It was pretty fun, so I started thinking about how to combine ham radio with geocaching AND horseback riding only to find out everyone here apparently hates ham radio! 2 Quote

People here don't dislike ham radio, they're just two hobbies, apples and oranges. You could combine them with a mystery cache by having someone translate morse for the coordinates, or somehow pick up a signal that's broadcasting final coordinates, or whatnot. I don't know how you'd combine geocaching AND ham radio AND horseback riding into one, unless you wrote some sort of mystery cache that combines them. Quote
+RecipeForDisaster Posted May 19 Posted May 19 I’m a horseback riding, geocaching, HAM radio operator… there have been a few local puzzles on amateur radio topics. I would love to cache by horseback more often, but there are no caches in our woods! Quote

The forum had a facelift and some individual forums were merged, but all the topics are still available to read... not at all archived. And you can start a new topic... like you just did. What a strange reply The subforum including the tread *is* locked and it *is* archived. 3 Quote

Always wanted to learn ham radio, thinking it's an additional safety gizmo for the pack... There's a few operators that cache, most it seems, like you, are out West. Fun to mix hobbies. We mix this one with hunting and fishing. This hobby showed us the best spots. Have fun, cache safe. 1 Quote
