Guest mxjohn
Just bought a Magellan 315 yesterday. What are you guys getting for battery life on this darn thing? I have had it on like I dont know maybe 5-6 hours and it only has 25% left. Didnt use the backlight at all. Do you know if leaving more NAV screens active drains batteries more? I only need 2 screens so if anyone has noticed that it doesnt drain as fast with more screens activated I may try that. mxJohn Quote Link to comment

Don't have a 315, but would highly recommend that anyone using a handheld GPS get a set of 4 NiMH cells and a good charger (like the Maha C204F or equivalent). Per charge they last almost as long as alkalines and it's much better to swap cells into the charger at the end of the day instead of needing to buy yet another pack of disposables. I'm getting 18-24 Power-On Hours from a pair of normal run of the mill (Panasonic) alkalines - at about $1.10 for a 4 pack it's just way too cheap to bother with rechargeables. Quote Link to comment

You know what is funny... I have been playing with my new toy (the 315) and I have been forgetting to turn the darn thing off one of my buddies here in the states says he gets like 5-6 hours on his I find your quote of 18 - 24 powered on hours to be quite on the high side. But nevertheless..Weird thing is I have a new rev of the software 3.14 from 3.07 earlier this morning and The battery consumption has dropped dramatically.. I dont know I will have to study that further.. time will tell.. Regardless. I am going to the closest radio shack store or a best buy store and getting some NiMH batts (4) they dont get a memory and they have worked good in my digital camera. Guest ericdb1
My 320 gets about nine hours tops without the backlight running at all. I think that Magallans quote of 12-15 is good advertising, but that's all. Eric Quote Link to comment

Guest JasonW
not, that's what I'm seeing here - one set of batteries lasts a whole day (7am start to 10pm finish) and still has about 1/4 to 1/3 life left. It's my mileage, your may vary Quote Link to comment

Guest Roger_and_out
I have a Magellan ColorTrak and it runs consistently 30hrs battery if you start with new alkalines. It runs 4AAs, two pairs in parallel. Any other battery type lasts less. Magellan's battery life claim holds good for this one. Quote Link to comment
