Ooooo... The pedant in me... :o

0.2  miles = metres ???

FEET (or yards) surely?  :D

I did write, "chains, yards or something," suggesting they would be better (and clearer) than .2 mile detective-magnifying-glass.gif. 😆

😄The metre measurement was mainly for me to get a feeling of the distance (about 5 decades since we used miles, so now very rusty with them and need to look them up). I then included it for others also outside of the USA.

Tree climbs are where this issue has arisen for me.  As a rule, these days, if I can't locate the cache from the ground I move on.  Taste vary, but climbing a tree to locate a camoed bison tube wired to the top of a tree branch, exceeds my risk/reward limit, so I smile and move on.  If I can spot it from the ground, up I go, gravity permitting.  One time I ran into the "can't replace the cache issue", I was 20 feet up the tree and grabbed the hanging bison tube.  Inside the tube was an even smaller plastic tube with it's tiny roll.  During the process of signing in with one of the now six pieces (the tiny gray cap on plastic tube) slipped away never to be seen again.  I reassembled the now four piece cache, pushed the pencil behind my ear and descended.  "Your cache is in place but the inner cap is missing", I wrote the CO and explained the situation.  Sorry about that.  Same situation if one of those child proof plastic pill bottles fracture during opening (they just love sunlight, don't they?).  The whole mess goes in a ziplock and the CO gets notified.
