+Cswageo Posted April 29 Posted April 29 (edited) Hello geo-community, Do most of you do a thing called Geocache anniversaries? When I joined a few years ago, I thought it be a thing. I have 2 different ones. 12/26 when I joined and 12/27 in visiting US and finding my 1st cache the next day. Feel free to share what you know and how you celebrate it. I do hope to attend a Geocaching Event on the 26th if that happens especially anywhere in Washington. Edited May 2 by Cswageo 1 2
+GeoElmo6000 Posted April 30 Posted April 30 My suggestion, if you haven't done so already, is to message perpulady directly and tell them that you appreciate whatever they do for geocaching. They may not see it here.

When I send her my complements and seek knowledge and help after that, she hasn't responded. That was a long time ago. It's probably not because she's busy. Maybe she doesn't want to communicate with you anymore. Maybe you should respect that. If she doesn't want to communicate with you anymore and you continue to harass her, that's called stalking. If the stalking is extensive enough, it's a crime in my country. Edited May 1 by 2Abendsegler 2 3

One of the cachers I'd like to send my appreciation to is perpulady. Sorry for any mistake I'd make. Just takes time to make sense of making these posts. I'll be happy to share anything geocaching related. My first thought when reading this post was that the OP is their first language is not English. But their profile indicates they live in the Pacific Northwest, so this is presumably not the case. My second thought is this message sounds like something a bot or AI would write. It's grammatically correct but has a very uncanny valley feel to it. If something like this showed up in my Message Center from a stranger I wouldn't respond. Maybe the OP is new to the internet, in which case they might need to be aware that forum rules require users to be at least 18 years old. 1 2
+Cswageo Posted May 2 Author Posted May 2 I don't mind attending as long as it's anywhere like Seattle or any nearby cities. I don't blame anyone at all if that doesn't happen. I wouldn't blame me either.

I joined and found my first cache on the 16th of March 2013, but the only time I've done anything special on that date was for my 10th anniversary in 2023, when I completed the renowned 16-stage multi At the Governor's Pleasure (GC6HR8E) by Calypso62. This is what I wrote in my log: On this day ten years ago, a not-so-young muggle named Jeff came across a strange object hiding in plain sight. It wasn't that spectacular, just a film pot under a rock at the base of a light pole, but inside was a scroll of paper, bearing the mysterious code GC45MJE, upon which I carefully wrote, for the first time, "barefootjeff". Those ten years have passed in the blink of an eye and along the way I've found many wondrous caches and some not-so-wondrous. I've been challenged physically and mentally, pushed outside my comfort zone, somtimes succeeding and sometimes found wanting. Now, a decade on, I decided this would be a fitting cache to mark the occasion. Edited May 2 by barefootjeff 1

The OP has now completely edited their post to something not even close to what was there originally. I'm tempted to ask the mods to revert the post, because a few of the replies make no sense now. @Cswageo What's your goal with posting here in the forums? Are you testing out an AI bot? Do you truly want to converse with other cachers? Are you just trolling us? Posting about an odd obsession with a specific cacher, and then days later editing it to something totally different is not normal if you want to have a discussion with cachers. 3
+Cswageo Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 I just hope the old post gets deleted. I also hope the only post I wanna keep are the movie ideas and geocache anniversaries. Basically share an idea that could be good for us geocachers. All I want is to make sense of rules of caching.
+Cswageo Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 So my goal in posting in the forums is hoping for a geocache movie (with Signal the Frog and his dog Tracker as the main characters in it), honoring geocachers and sending compliments every once in a while like always and hoping any cachers can save suggested GCs for future finds if they would like to find someday. I always apologize in advance for wrong choice of words. My goal is to remain a rule follower same as all of you. I don't mind if this forum gets deleted.
