I failed. Now I have to wait seven more hours to try again. 

Uh oh. I think I was playing the regular game instead of the geocaching version so I'm going to try again.

I just published a cache series around geoguessr and HQ themselves blocked me from using the text "geoguessr" in my listing. And yet they just collaborated with geoguessr again. 🤦

That was actually a lot of fun . I'm slightly embarrassed that it took 18 or 19 of the 25 rounds before I realized the special "theme" of the locations  .

That's a fair point. But I didn't know that when I spent all that time solving the 25 locations, so it was most definitely a challenge for me.

The challenge is to discover all the cool places... not  discover "just another" trackable.

I did not see a feedback option like they had last year. My family really enjoyed playing it.

OK, I admit I discovered the TB before completing all 25 locations.  Then I went back and did manage to get all 25, but it took awhile. I feel better about the discovery.

It told me I was too far away to post a guess (are there 25 more of these?!).  I don't know how many hours of penalty that is, because I stopped.

I've never seen the first place, and the idea is to... guess?   Is there a place that explains this like I'm 5?  I don't understand what it is, what I'm supposed to do.  at. all. 

 

Also, it keeps asking how much of a monthly fee I will be paying...

I was in the same boat - trial and error.  Yes, I just guessed, and then it showed me the actual location.  Next time that picture came up, if I could remember, I could get close enough.  It took awhile, but I finally got all 25 locations.  Maybe there's a better way, but I slugged my way through.

Yeah, it kept trying to get me to subscribe...but I didn't.  Apparently you complete all 25 locations, and get a souvenir in addition to the trackable code.  So I "discovered" the tb, then played around until I got all 25 locations and now I have the souvenir, earned today.

First of all, make sure you're on the geocaching version. I made the mistake of playing the regular version first. 

They will show you an image. Move the arrows on the Google maps to try to get clues like from a sign or landscape. Anything that might give you a clue where the place is. You have a little more than 2 minutes to do this. Take a guess where you think it is by pointing to somewhere on the map and clicking the button called guess. If you are close enough it'll congratulate you and give you credit. If you are not close enough, it'll show you the correct location. And then it'll show you a new location. Move around on the map to try to get clues. Click on the map to identify where you think it might be before the timer goes down. Repeat 25 times. 

But the cool thing is there's only 25 locations and 25 answers, so after 25 you're going to start cycling back to the ones you missed but now know the correct location! 

 

Some of the locations were very very hard for me, like a dirt road in the middle of nowhere with trees on the side. How?

 

I wish there was a feedback button like last year. A common thing I hear is a lack of instructions or understanding of how to play. Took me awhile to figure it out, and I played on my cell phone.

Thanks!  I still have many questions, but maybe when I get one right, I'll at least have the gist of it.

I kinda made the mistake of assuming I'd be typing a city name into the long white text box (which I guess isn't a text box).  After it said I was too far away when I had not yet typed my answer, that seemed to be a clue that maybe I should have worked with the map screen instead.  But the error screen doesn't explain anything.  Anyway, that's when I knew I was definitely not doing it right.  Pretty sure I still don't fully understand it.  I often skip Geocaching Puzzles when I'm too thick to figure out what to do...

 

In comparison, I also hardly touch "Adventure Labs", because my answer is "WRONG" so often.  In my defense, a bunch of ALs appear to have no right answer.  

 

 

But I got 9 Points for not even selecting anything!  Cool.

I actually can't identify everywhere on Earth... yeah, like random dirt roads...

But the idea of taking good notes makes sense!

I got the souvenir without doing the challenge..just by discovering the trackable I guess?  I may play through the locations anyway, just to be fair.. I seem to recall it was more interesting last year! and easier to understand what to do.

Did you sign up for an annual subscription?

I had played a little bit on GeoGuessr a few years back so it wasn't too hard to get it going this time. On the roads out in the middle of nowhere, lots of clicks in the right direction helped on most of those. There was one or two that I didn't have time to figure out. 

 

Although I didn't mean to do it, the game let me cheat a couple of times when it repeated a location I had already done. 

 

Edited to add: I didn't read the part saying you played on your cell phone. There's no way I'd have been able to get any of them if I tried that.

First time using the geoguesser. I succeeded in guessing and completed the locations but I was not aware of the need to look for anything along so I was not looking for the trackable. Apparently I can’t go back to look at the images so no souvenir for me.

you could sign up again with a different Email and do it all over...

I "discovered" the TB in the frontpage and got the souvenir also. Is there anything else missing? So far I only found 13 location from the challenge and got a couple of coupons I don't care about. Is there any extra perk if I complete the 25 locations beside the TB and the souvenir I already have?

Don't think there are any other perks. For me though, it was just fun to go ahead and do all 25.

I had a heck of a time unsubscribing to their email notifications! I can usually unsubscribe from an email, but not with this game. I had to log in three different times as I searched for the correct location.
