+doingitoldschool Posted April 21 Posted April 21 (edited) Hello all, long-time cacher, here, not on the forums much. I looked for a thread on my topic, but the search results were nill. I bought rechargeable AA lithium batteries for my newer GPSr 64. They work great in the unit, but they only hold their charge for a few weeks. I also buy the Energizer lithium AA batteries, which are great, but non-rechargeable. SO my question is, have you found a good rechargeable AA Lithium battery, or have you tried to recharge the Energizers? I used to carefully recharge regular alkaline batteries, with some success. +Viajero Perdido Posted April 21 Posted April 21 (edited) I'd be wary of recharging a lithium that isn't designed for it. Unlike the old alkaleaks, lithiums contain enough energy, and have low enough internal resistance, to go boom if mistreated. That said, I haven't heard of anybody trying. Lithium AAs designed for recharging - presumably you mean the 1.5v style - are a new thing; I don't know why yours are discharging fast. (I assume you're not talking about 14500 cells, which are much higher voltage in the AA size, a recipe for disaster.) I've gotten many years of heavy service out of simple Energizer NiMH cells, also better ones, with a good charger. I gave up on Pure Energy rechargeable alkalines, but don't remember why.
