What other Geocaching app works successfully on Android Auto in car?

If you can accept a street routing App, Waze supposedly works with Android Auto and with voice commands.  Looks like there's a process to set it up.  Waze is free.

In the Official App, start navigation to a cache or waypoints, select Waze as the navigation App, and work whatever voodoo is required to connect Waze to Android Auto.

If you're running a Geocaching App while driving, where your phone is in a dock and in view, you could switch between Waze and Geocaching App and save a step by not connecting to Android Auto.  But I know that's not the OP topic.

Google Maps? The official app will send waypoints over to Google Maps or Waze or your mapping app of choice for you to get turn-by-turn driving directions. There's no need to do it directly in a geocaching app.

It might be valuable to provide some comparative context:

Geooh GO's enhanced version subscription is only $6/year USD after the price increase. GCDroid's base app cost is $10/year. And Cachly's pro version subscription is $15/year. No other geocaching app has the depth of features that Geooh has... highlighted by the fact that Geooh is the only app to have a native car app running on Android Auto (although Cachly should have an Apple Car Play feature this year).

Agreed!

Let's be real though. $6/year USD, this is still a steal for the features and functionality of this App. A 1/2 dollar a month, heck yeah, I'm in. All the money we spend on this hobby, in my mind, this isn't even a question. Plus, the developer is very active and responsive to feedback and questions about the App. Love this App, and I'll definitely keep using it.

This increase was advertised by Geooh Go a while ago and most people were happy with the price - given the versatility of the app, the quick response to problems or wishes for additional features.

It's also still one of the cheapest subscriptions around. Most people will spend more on take away coffee or other beverages.

It's run by a one person outfit and they have increased overheads like everyone around.

Locus Map supports Android Auto, but you may not like the price.

I appreciate when people are willing to pay for software. It's paid my bills.

Looks like those are the only two options:

Excellent link and summarization. Yes, Locus gold subscription is $24/year USD which also highlights Geooh has the cheapest subscription rate. Locus Android Auto support is more focused on mapping features where it excels while Geooh is more focused on geocaching features.

Geooh GO's enhanced version subscription is 5.99 per 6 months ( $11.98 a year)

No, it's not, it's $5.99/year USD. I should know because I set up the subscription with Google. Join our Facebook and ask others who are subscribers.

That is not what the screen capture  in the first post indicates.

Sorry, that's not how it's set up in Google. There are three subscriptions... quarterly is $1.99 USD... the semi annual is $3.49 USD every 6 months... the yearly is $5.99 USD per year. You can easily cancel an existing subscription and then resubscribe to pick a new plan. Your screenshot doesn't indicate the country or currency which will be different than USD. Show a screenshot of subscribing for USA so we are talking the same scale.

Mod note: When this was about the price of a third-party app, I was a little clammy to the conversation, but I let it stand thinking it'd be over quickly. (Booming announcer voice: "But it didn't....")

When it was about alternative apps, I decided to remove my finger from the lock button as we were back closer to the charter of the group: discussing GPS-related tech. Cool.

The last few [posts](https://giphy.com/gifs/bugs-bunny-bugsbunny-l2JIbtfnQ4OQDRGve)  of "is too"/"is not" are between an apparent representative of the vendor (but if it's a "one-man shop," as stated earlier, it must be the vendor, right? Doesn't really matter...) and customers and members here. This then just becomes a price squabble between a vendor and a customer, which isn't really appropriate here.

I don't even care if OP was arguing about Brazilian dollars or Canadian dollars or where the screenshot occurred. For at least some users, the price went up about 4.2x. Sure, you can't compare prices of anything called a dollar while ignoring _which_ dollar, but we're not here for Econ 101, either.

Please make my life as moderator easy and not have to think about this much harder. Let this flowchart guide you:

Discussion of alternative geocaching apps from approved partners, their features, etc.? Y ----→Cool. That's welcome here.
 asdfasdf

Discussion about Geooh? Y ----→ Some venue hosted by or dedicated to Geooh. (Maybe [this one](https://geooh.com/forum) .)
N

Arguments about price? That's the same as above with the same solution. Y ----→ (Not here.)

Go outside and ▶️ play⛹️♀️🛝

Thank you for your cooperation.
P.S. While I'm being grumpy, it stinks that in 2025 we can't draw polygons, lines, and arrows sensibly in text on the web. No, we don't' need LaTeX or Graphviz...

Although I can sympathize with users that are either on a tight budget or are limited geocachers, I objectively see the need to increase the price of this app.  The most recent update is a statement that the developer is keenly interested in the quality of his product.

I often compare Geooh Go to a 81 tool utility knife while  the official geocaching app is simply a 4 blade packet knife.  There are other apps out there that do more then the official app but I think Geooh Go for AOS and Cachly for IOS are best apps for the highly active geocacher.  That's just my experienced opinion based on use of top 4 GC apps.

I am perfectly fine with the price increase (the real cost) and with that increase I look forward to more improvements for Geooh Go.
