+Orxion Posted March 20 Posted March 20 With great fanfare, the “Treasure” feature was announced—a fantastic new addition, new rules, and all that… but in the end, it’s just another souvenir with a slightly different approach. If such a new feature is being introduced, why not fine-tune it properly before launch? For example, when I click on the magnifying glass to check what I still need to complete, I see many caches I’ve placed myself (in other words - that I own). Everyone (except, apparently, Groundspeak and whoever coded this) knows that you can’t log your own caches. And that’s just one of the many issues. With the premium membership fee increase, it would be nice if newly introduced features were properly polished—let alone the fact that the system still has plenty of bugs. For instance, when someone sends me a message, it remains marked as unread on my phone when I read it on my computer, and vice versa. And that’s just one of many little “glitches” that persist. When I want to set up cache notifications, I have to do it individually for each one — so I end up with a crazy list of multiple notifications for each area. Is it that hard to improve this? When preparing a cache for publication, I can enter GPS coordinates in multiple formats, but if I edit it later, I’m forced to use a predefined format. Otherwise, the system acts like it doesn’t understand and rejects it. And the list of issues goes on… It wouldn’t hurt to introduce some tools for cache owners. For example, when creating multiple caches, why not allow the use of templates? Or even generate a list of GC codes where owners can enter default coordinates, set universal attributes, add standard (universal) text, and apply universal waypoints — then just fine-tune each cache separately. A cloning tool for recurring events would also be helpful. But I guess that would be asking too much, right? 😏 As for the “Treasures”—for those who enjoy souvenirs, all this means is that you just need to gather a ton of caches and then check a table to see what order to log them in. Extra work for no real reason—worth it? Well, beats me .. Oh well… I guess I just had to write this. Because when I checked the fillter (treasures) with the possibilities that I can log, and geocaching showed me a list of my own caches (which, by definition, cannot be logged), it naturally annoyed me. 😆 3 Quote
+tumbleweed42 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I whole heartedly agree! 100%! The Treasures feature is….fine. A little too much emphasis on the digital reward and not the physical nature of geocaching, but maybe it inspires people to plan a route in a certain way. I dunno. There are so many things that could be done to improve the website and app. I know Groundspeak has allowed third party apps to lead the way in this type of development, but I actually like the official app, despite its limitations and would love to see some improvement. One small change recently - the way cache types can be filtered - was great! It makes so much more sense this way. If Groundspeak want to focus on something digital, how about improving the already existing experience with app and website improvements instead of glitzy digital rewards? Quote

+RCH65 Posted April 4 Posted April 4 This was introduced by the marketing department. They are not interested in the day-to-day problems. 1 Quote
