Release Notes (Geocaching® app: Past logs screen improvements) - March 18, 2025

 

We are releasing some improvements to the past logs screen on the Geocaching® app. These changes are available in the app version 9.72.0.

 

• Photo thumbnails: Logs that have attached photos will now show thumbnails, which makes it easier to skim which logs might contain photo hints, and also how many photos are attached to a log.
• My own and CO log tabs: In addition to the existing “Friends” tab, you can now see your own logs and logs from the cache owner (CO) in separate tabs. This makes it easier to find your own log when someone asks you about a cache and you want to reference your log to recall your experience.
• Collapsed long logs: You now have an option to expand longer logs, which makes it easier to skim all past logs.

 

Nicole (nykkole), Product Manager, is watching this thread to answer questions whenever possible.

Can we *please* have this also in the Web-UI!

I mean the Owner Logs.

Can we please add back function to add/remove FP on listing page ?? It was one of best app features you did in while and after last update it doesnt worked. I used it a lot when i forgot to add FP when logging, now its so anoying to go throught web. Please bring this back

Great improvements! I do wish there was an option to expand all comments. It can be a pain to have to keep clicking read more, when you're out in the field looking for hide hints.

 

Also...when are we going to get helpful and great story buttons and sorting? Use of those tags will skyrocket with app support.

there basicaly isnt many hints in looong logs, because people be pasting trashy nonimportant text as bot log for all daily finds..

Somewhere within the long bot log, there is text personally typed about it being "45 feet NW of the coords".  And you never know, so you still gotta scroll past the huge ASCII animal graphic, read the story about why they're in town, their trivia question, and their Stats, just in case.

It looks to us like photos in the app are now limited to 5 visible per log.  You can post more using the web, but it will still only display the last 5 uploaded on the app log.

 

We have decided to get around this by posting Write Notes with 5 photos per log until all our photos are visible.

 

On some deep-woods, barely-visited caches, being able to see all the photos is very helpful.

This update came while I was abroad and the ability to highlight and translate the logs is gone. Please bring this back it’s crucial when caching abroad!!

 

Like the “my own log” feature though, that’s handy 😊

I have complained about things and features you guys have done or haven't done, but this update is great so thank you for that. I skim through previous logs on the app all the time for pictures and hints and this definitely makes it quicker and easier while out caching!

Yes I agree. 
 

The lots of options are available in the cache description page but no such options in the logs, just copy and share which is too limited.
