+highlandgrlz Posted March 9 Posted March 9 (edited) Hey all, my brother Curufinwe has been very active in the Los Angeles geocaching community for many years. Sadly he passed away very unexpectedly in his sleep 2 nights ago. He has 64 active hides and I’m trying to figure out what to do with them. I live in Minnesota so I can’t take them over. I have contacted HQ and I’m waiting to hear back. I know he would hate for them to not be maintained so I might have to close them out. Anyway, I wanted the geocaching community to know a giant has passed. He introduced geocaching to me and he will be missed! FYI - celebration of life will be April 5 at the California Botanical Gardens starting at 2 pm. It’s Casual dress, as my brother would have wanted it. Wear Hawaiian shirt if you have one! +not tom Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Met him10 years ago or so. Nice gentleman. Sorry to see him leave us. Quote
+hustlermoe Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I live in the same city as Dan, this makes me so sad to read. I was so happy to see him in Yuma this year. He had great caches, was super kind, and we had fun chasing FTFs together. If there will be services, can you please send me info? I would like to come pay my respects. I tried texting his number but got no reply. Quote
+Webfoot Posted March 14 Posted March 14 I was very saddened to hear about his passing. We both lived in the same city and we often see each other on our respective walks. There were several times over the years where we'd go out hiking together and get a co-FTF from time to time. He will be missed. Quote
