BethanyFerrell Posted March 4 Posted March 4 (edited) My previous post on this appears to have been deleted or never approved by a moderator, so this time I’ll start a thread. While walking in the woods of Pony Pasture Rapids Park and the adjacent Wetlands Park in Richmond, Virginia, I have now come across two caches not shown on this site’s map. Since the area gets flooded at least once in most years, it could be I found them some distance from where they were originally placed. The first is off a graveled footpath in Pony Pasture. It’s a natural-color translucent plastic container with a seal and two locking flaps on the lid — sadly, they didn’t seal or lock well enough ’cos the logbook is saturated and everything inside has got wet. Written inside the lid is “Geocaching.com Nature Pals — World of Chocolate”. Inside are a few small items, including a child’s plastic “mini paint set” that didn’t get too soaked, a pen, and some other stuff I didn’t examine. The container is wrapped in woodland camo tape. I put it back together as best I could, then left it where found. The second is a clear plastic box without seal, with four flaps on the clear purple lid. It was right near a heavy wooden box with its half-cover lying nearby; stencil-style lettering declares it is an OFFICIAL GEOCACHE and DO NOT REMOVE. The container’s lid was open too; nothing inside. A few feet away was a laminated card explaining geocaching to finders who don’t know what it is. I didn’t see a logbook or other contents, just the card. I reassembled it and put it back into the wooden box. I photographed both, with geotagging on, both close-up (omitting surroundings) and wider shots. Any ideas how to proceed? If it will help I can upload photos. Edited March 4 by BethanyFerrell Quote
geoawareUSA9 Posted March 5 Posted March 5 Not all geocaches are listed at the coordinates where they are found - some require navigating multiple points or solving puzzles - so they may have been where they were supposed to be. Clearly the one that was scattered.abiut was not supposed to be scattered. If the logs had a GC code (example: GCAZT8H), that is an easy way to look it up. Or you can send a reviewer (like me) an email or message with the approximate coordinates, and I can see what might be in the area. 1 Quote
BethanyFerrell Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 Thanks, makes sense. I’ll check them next time I’m bashing the bush, and send you the coords if nothing seems helpful. 1 Quote

Didn't take too much searching. https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GCTAM9_world-of-chocolate Could look into the other one as well if you like. Quote
BethanyFerrell Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 Thank you! I’ve not looked actively for caches in many years due to a shattered hip, so I’m out of what’s current and what’s not. My searches for “nature pals” and “chocolate” turned up nothing, possibly because I’m not a paid member. I will try to find stage 1 — probably many miles downstream for lo these sixteen or so years. Since the person who placed the cache hasn’t visited this site since 2010, no idea whether the PM I just sent will ever be read. We’ll see. Quote

+Sottiwotti Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Might be a good idea to remove that archived cache. Now it's just geo trash. You might be able to reuse it for your own Quote
