Downloading AL's for offline

This applies for non-linear ALs only:

Open the AL when you have cell coverage.  Leave the AL open, you can see the stages on the map.  Just navigate, using the map to the stages, read the question but do not enter the answer in the AL app.  Just write it down or take a picture.  Navigate to the next stage, again, do NOT enter anything, the app will freeze.  Visit all 5 locations.  Once you have cell coverage again, enter the answers.

This way, you can complete ALs even without cell coverage, the app will remember that you have been to the stages.

It's a good workaround; but only until your phone decides it doesn't have enough memory — maybe you've been taking photos — and purges the AL app.

If your phone does not have enough memory to run the app, then it does not make any difference if you have cell reception or not.

It makes all the difference. With cell reception, the AL app will just reload the AL when you bring it to the foreground again, and you can continue.

Also, the AL app seems to be particularly likely to reload its content, when you temporarily switch to another app (e.g. to make photos, or browse the web).

If you have enough memory, your app will reload, if you don't, nothing will reload.

There are many ALs around where this procedure described above will work very well, I have never heard that someone has any problems.

One example: Alter Elbtunnel, Hamburg, 928 logs without problems

But of course, I don't know what phone someone is using.  With my old Samsung S10 you can have 10 apps open without any problem.

I have a Samsung phone, which can have a lot of apps open in parallel without any problems. But the AL app still frequently tries to reload the currently played AL, when I had pushed it into the background for a while to do other stuff (opening my caching app, making some photos, whatever). Therefore, if I know in advance that cell reception may be bad in some locations of the AL, I consciously avoid that.

And BTW...

Hard to get a log from someone who actually had problems (and couldn't complete the AL) ;) .
