I just submitted my first event cache for review today, its taking place in Vatican city about a month from now, but what happens if nobody shows up, do I wait there for thirty minutes? Also what happens if I don't show up, I not gonna miss this for the world but what if? Also is there anything I should know about hosting events?

I have been in your situation.  I scheduled an event and no one showed up.  One person had logged a 'will attend'.  I waited the entire time and a little extra and logged that I had attended.

That was when I was traveling and I thought it would be nice to meet some local cachers.  Did not happen.

I also attended an event in Iceland and was the only one to show up along with the host.  The local cachers did not come.

No guarantees out there.

The host is expected to be at the event from its start to finish times. If no one else turns up, just log your own Attended and archive the listing afterwards. If the unexpected happens and you csn't attend, post an Announcement log saying that. The others who attend can still log Attended even if you're not there.

I also suppose that if for some reason you are not able to show up you should make an announcement on your event page.  I have experienced that more than once where something happened and the host was unable to attend.  Those who have logged a 'will attend' will receive a notification about your announcement.
