Popular Post +Geocaching HQ Posted January 21 Popular Post Posted January 21 This information is shared in the Geocaching Blog. We’re excited to announce another fun way to celebrate 25 years of geocaching in 2025 with the publication of GCA2025 Where’s 25? - Locationless Cache. Show us where you find an already-existing “25” in the real-world and log this HQ-owned cache to earn the rare Locationless Cache icon. This Locationless Cache is available to log January 25, 2025 through December 31, 2025. Here are the logging requirements: Include one (1) photo of yourself or a personal item next to an already-existing 25. Ideally, the 25 should be something that others may visit if they know the location coordinates. The 25 can stand on its own or not. It can be a numeral or spelled out. It can be in any language or ancient numbering systems. Get creative! In the spirit of the original Locationless Caches, you are encouraged to include the coordinates where you found the 25 in your online log. Logs that do not include a photo will be deleted. The cache page will be archived and locked on January 1, 2026, so be sure to find your 25 and log this Locationless Cache before the end of 2025. We look forward to highlighting your creative photos throughout the year! 8 1 4 Quote

+Calypso62 Posted January 22 Posted January 22 I really like this idea. Now to find a 25 that will make an iconic pic. 😀 Quote
+toubiV Posted January 24 Posted January 24 When exactly will this cache be unlocked on the 25th ? Will it be 12:00 AM (midnight from 24th to 25th) Seattle time ? This would be 08:00 AM in the morning of the 25th January in Germany for example, right? Quote

+Phronimos Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Well we're past Midnight of the 24th/25th January UTC time, and it's still not unlocked. It's 13:00 in the afternoon of the 25th January now here in New Zealand. So I guess it'll be Midnight Seattle time or 21:00 NZT. This is disappointing. 1 1 1 Quote
+barnold Posted January 25 Posted January 25 made my picture just a couple of minutes after midnight , local time. seems we have to wait till america wakes up. 2 Quote

+toubiV Posted January 25 Posted January 25 It is 10 AM UTC now and still locked. Maybe at noon UTC so that every time zone in the world has the 25th Quote

How difficult is it to publish a cache really on the 25th of January, 2025 ? Probably Sleepless in Seattle. Quote
+Birdie.NL Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Live at 15:00 hours CET (Netherlands) - pfff - hope you had a good night's sleep Quote

+The Leprechauns Posted January 25 Posted January 25 A big thank you to whichever Lackey set their alarm clock to the pre-dawn hours so that they could manually unlock the cache page! It's fun reading the logs from all around the world, other than the logs from complainers who don't understand time zones. 3 6 Quote
+geodarts Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I am not a FTF person and never use those initials, but there are apparently multiple claims out there. The first to log seems to belong to PlasmaWave. But that did not stop a few first to finds! There may be more so I apologize if I left any logs out. 4 Quote
+Max and 99 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) Some of the early gallery photos for logs are before the geocache was even live. One is 4 months before! Edited January 26 by Max and 99 2 Quote

That mystified me but it does seem like a job for CONTROL to find out how the rules of time and space were broken and who is the rightful first. Edited January 26 by geodarts Typo 1 Quote

I quick-scrolled through ~10 oldest pages in the logs, and counted 8(!) logs claiming FTF. No surprise, though . There are several cachers in my home area, who claim "FTF" very easily (that the log is empty, when they find a physical cache is not a requirement). For a "world-wide" cache like this, 8x FTF is actually not that much . Quote
+Mausebiber Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) Does the FTF buy me a pizza or a coke? No!, then they can have all the FTFs in the world and be happy with it. Edited January 26 by Mausebiber 1 6 Quote

+werla Posted January 28 Posted January 28 (edited) After just three days, so many inappropriate logs have been posted by geocachers who have obviously neither read nor understood the task correctly or are speculating that their bogus log will not be deleted. For example, there are log photos of a speed display on a speedometer IN a car, various screenshots and photos of other non-public places not at fixed coordinates or even pictures that don't show a 25 at all. But I think that was also the case with previous locationless caches... Edited February 11 by werla typo 1 1 Quote
