Just as you can no longer change the listing of archived caches as owner, it should also be impossible to remove favorite points on archived caches as finder.

No, it shouldn't.

My given Favourites are a recommendation to others that this cache is worth a search. When the cache is archived there is no need to recommend it.

Some players will take points from caches that are not maintained. Archiving is a decision made solely by the cache owner not to maintain the cache. Do you see the connection?

Looking down my list of favourited caches, most are ones that ticked all the boxes for me as a great caching experience, one that makes me say "Wow, this is what I go caching for!" .Often this is for an awesome hike (or kayak paddle) to a picturesque location with scenic views, waterfalls, impressive rock formations or whatever. Sometimes it can be for an exceptional cache construction too, whether that be the container itself or the way it's hidden (GCAJYG1 fits that latter category). With those, it will still have been a memorable experience regardless of what happens to the cache afterwards, so I'd be reluctant to ever remove an FP from one of those.

On the other hand, sometimes I've given an FP to a cache mainly as a "thank you" to the CO and, particularly for a new player, to give encouragement when it's clear they've put a fair bit of thought and effort into their creation. But if that player leaves the game and their caches fall into disrepair or go missing and are archived, I might decide to recycle the FP if I desperately need one to give to a recent awesome find. There are no power trails or geoart anywhere around here that I can use to quickly boost my find count by ten if I need another FP to give out, and new caches of any description are a rare treat anywhere close to home, so I'm constantly finding myself running short of FPs. While removing one I previously gave out is pretty much a last resort, it's something I occasionally have to do. Sometimes the CO even makes this easy by suggesting in their archival log that they welcome finders recycling the FPs they've given, as I did on a cache I archived a few days ago:

So no, please leave it to the discretion of the finder as to what they do with FPs they gave to caches that have since been archived.

Why?  Since you didn't explain why, there's a lotta reasons someone would leave or grab 'em back.

We know a guy who is finally taking long hikes and showing his appreciation of nature.

 - He's removing FPs from low D/T cache n dashes, to put them on his new interest.  :)

What about Archived by a Reviewer because that fun cache from years ago is now a science project inside, and the CO never responds to his notes on the cache page?   I'd think most would want to remove their FPs from it.    It's now a piecea carp...

To be clear, when we received our stack of FPs in 2010, we put a lot of them on caches already archived for years.

Groundspeak said they were "a simple way to track and share the geocaches that you enjoyed the most". and those old caches were our favorites.  Most FPs are still there almost 20 years later.    Leave it up to the people placing them thanks...

I doubt this feature reqauest will come to anything.

But I do sit on the side of a FP is a thanks to a cache owner for a great experience finding a cache.  Taking a FP away is rude and it's removing that thanks, and acting like you never enjoyed it in the first place.

I'll never take one back from a CO, because I appreciate the experience that the CO gave me and my thanks for that is permanent.

Some people express their gratitude by simply writing a thank you in the log.
