+Max and 99 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 Event egg: I know the egg had changes. It's also the last egg I earned. I'm wondering which is the reason there's a "new" banner and how long it's going to remain. Quote
+PlantAKiss Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Will 3rd party apps be able to display the treasures or you have to use the GC.com app? I can see my souvenirs thru ------ but not (so far) Treasures. Is that something HQ has to allow? I just looked today and discovered I had all the first ones and 1 in the second collection. Had no idea! It would be very cool if when you log a cache the treasure would pop up with some confetti or something. Easy to forget they exist (as some want ) Quote
+Max and 99 Posted May 3 Author Posted May 3 I was notified on the official geocaching app every time I got a treasure. You have to toggle the notification at the bottom. I don't know about the other apps and treasures. 1 Quote

I haven't been caching mostly because I have other hobbies that have taken priority this year, and there are no interesting caches in my immediate area. But no, these treasures haven't inspired me to find caches. I'm also the type of person who would see how long I could geocache without triggering the treasures to start. For example, it looks like the first treasure requires you to find four traditional caches of any size. So if I was finding geocaches, I'd aim to find non-traditional caches as long as possible as to not enable treasures on my account. In the end, I don't care about these treasures, as much as I don't care about non-location souvenirs, so whether I had them or not doesn't matter. 1 Quote
+Max and 99 Posted May 6 Author Posted May 6 (edited) Classic Trackables (5): Log any Traditional, event, CITO event, Mega-event, Community Celebration Event, Geocaching HQ Block Party, or Giga-Event. Any size. Mystery Books (4): Log any Multicache, Virtual, Letterbox Hybrid, Myst, Earth Cache, or Wherigo, any size, D 2 or higher. Edited May 6 by Max and 99 Quote
+Max and 99 Posted May 6 Author Posted May 6 (edited) I've been waiting for the May Treasures to go live so I could test the search function on the app, after reading comments from others. I can't get it to work. At all. Whether I search from the collection magnifying glass or the treasure itself, it freezes the app. Edited May 6 by Max and 99 Quote

They give you extra motivation. One way or another Quote

One way or another Lol that's funny. Honestly, I'm just really busy now with other hobbies and haven't been thinking about geocaching. Last year I completed my Jasmer which included two trips, and I'm devoting my free time to other things I like to do now. Geocaching is fun but there are other fun hobbies that I enjoy as well. Quote
+x7Kevin Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I am personally unimpressed with the new collections, especially the classic trackables. It's easier than the first collection, just collect any traditional any D/T or even an event. There is zero challenge and there is no way they could've made it easier. I thought that they would make easy collections to start then make them progressively more challenging, which would make sense since these are permanent. The Mystery Books is slightly better but I was sure it would just be getting Mystery Caches at a certain level and not every common type besides traditional. If this was a time limited promotion it would be ok, but with the way it's setup almost all active cachers will quickly unlock these collections without needing to target certain caches or even think about it. I had fun with the previous two collections but these are so basic and simple it's just boring to me personally. There's not even a souvenir or anything which would at least add something. I'm curious to see where they take this next or what the plan is for the future with Treasures. 2 Quote

Surprisingly (or perhaps not, seeing the other Treasures on offer), the only common non-traditional cache type NOT included in Mystery Books is mysteries. Go figure. The other annoyance I have with Mystery Books is its dependence on completing Navigation Tools, which is all low-T high-D traditionals that are my least-favourite caches as they usually involve searching for a needle-in-a-haystack micro on an urban street teeming with muggles. 2 Quote

I was aware that there were 2 collections being released yesterday and when I looked last night I thought for a moment one of them had been withdrawn, but then realised that my lunchtime walk from the office where I bagged a handfull of trads had completed that collection without me even noticing. I guess they're trying to mix it up a bit and offering various levels of difficulty/complexity, maybe they think this one will help to tempt people in with a "free gift" 1 Quote
+fuzziebear3 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I like the layout of these 2 better, as they do not overlap, and the criteria can be stated simply. Yes, it does make me look for caches so I can complete the collections as quickly as possible. It also causes me to pull back and not go get other local caches, because I may need them for the upcoming treasures. I'm not a huge fan of them, but I do respond to them. 1 Quote
+crowak Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Hello, I have a problem with last mystery book. Yesterday I was hunting with my wife the same geocache and last Letterbox was not not count on my account as last book. My Wife has it as last book. The last geocache is Letterbox D2.5 T2 https://coord.info/GCAQFG2 I also delete a log, make it again, also I am waiting to next day but with same reason. Do you know why? Thank you for help. Quote
Keystone Posted May 11 Posted May 11 @crowak, once you delete your log, you will never receive a Treasure for finding that cache. You will need to find another qualifying cache. 1 Quote
